SpongeBob SquarePants Speed Drawing

I know, I know, I know, what is a forty something year old bloke doing drawing SpongeBob SquarePants. Well, I have just done a video talking about Art and Depression, which I hope to edit and upload soon, but in that video I talk about the importance of color in the healing process.

Sometimes, when I'm doing a detailed colored pencil drawing that takes time and patience, I like to draw something using my markers and colored pencils combined. The reason I love it so much is because I get to splash color everywhere and the process is relatively fast. For me, it just helps to break up the long process of colored pencil art. I don't know why exactly, but I just get an overwhelming feeling to draw something really colorful, it really helps my mental state of mind, it is one of the reasons I absolutely love drawing fan art, Manga and Anime. I understand a lot of people don't class this as art, but it makes me happy when I am drawing it and this is why I do it

Materials Used

In this speed drawing of our old friend SpongeBob Squarepants, I have used my Copic Markers and as you can see in the video both Copic Sketch and Copic Ciao. I also used Prismacolor Premier Pencils, Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran d'Ache Luminance colored pencils. As always I completed the art work on my favourite Strathmore Bristol Plate 500 Series.
