Well, as much as it terrifies me to even say this, however, it is that time of year again, Christmas, when we all try to scrape together as many pennies as we can to buy our loved ones a loving and meaningful gift. I have completed a few different lists every year in an attempt to help you get some ideas for the artist friend or loved one in your life, or even for you to drop some hints to the loved one in your life that has no clue about art, but you can gently guide them in the right direction. I know it is a bit sneaky, but I am sure they would rather spend money on a gift you will love for ever as opposed to putting in the back of your wardrobe for another year and perhaps palm it off next year as a gift to someone else.
I normally compile a Luxury List, which has really quite expensive gift ideas in it, but if you are fortunate to afford such gifts why not indulge yourself or loved one, I am sure given the year we have all experienced you or that loved one absolutely deserves it. I also complete a more affordable list of equally desirable gift ideas but more affordable options. this year I have also added an art gadget list, a list of ideas that will help you as an artist or your loved one to make life that wee bit easier when expressing your artistic flair
Without further ado, let’s get started on this years Luxury Art Christmas List 2020. Although these gift ideas are a little bit on the more expensive side, it is not the price that makes them luxury, it is the overall aesthetics and indulgence of the ideas.
Caran d’Ache Graphite Range Box Set
I have reviewed and used the Caran d’Ache Grafwood Graphite pencils and they are an absolutely gorgeous set of pencils, uniquely color coded in relation to graphite grades. The Caran d’Ache Graphite Box Set however has a lot more to offer and is the absolutely perfect gift for the graphite artist enthusiast in your life or for yourself.
Inside the set you get 15 Grafwood Graphite pencils from 9B through to 4H graphite grades, you also get 3 water soluble graphite Technalo pencils grades 2B, B and HB. On top of this you also get 3 10mm Grafcube sticks and 3 15mm Grafcube sticks allowing to lay down large areas of rich graphite. Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens
The Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens are a fantastic art tool for any mixed media artist, they are not quite markers in the traditional sense, more like extremely high quality felt tip pens with regards to their size. Internally the pens are filled with highly lightfast Indian Inks which help to deliver incredibly strong pigments. The indian Inks are delivered to your surface via an incredibly fine and detailed brush tip allowing the artist to achieve calligraphy styled lines using variations of pressure on the brush tip.

Schmincke conjures up ideas of quality, strong pigments and the highest quality watercolors, which is why I have included this absolutely gorgeous Schmincke wooden box set with 48 half pans.

The Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Water Soluble Crayons may indeed look like those crayons your childhood memory may carry you off to when you see them, however, I can assure you they are a million lightyears away from those memories; unless of course you were fortunate enough to have actually used the Neocolor as a child.
The Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Water Soluble Crayons are simply sticks of gorgeous pigment firework explosions, as soon as you activate the Neocolor with water you will be amazing at the strength of pigment develop before your eyes. This is the full 84 range of colors, housed in the very adult and sophisticated wooden box set with each crayon delivering highly lightfast pigments, but don’t let this stifle those childhood memories of fun a creativity.

Derwent Lightfast Colored Pencils 48 Wooden Box Set
The newest pencil to the Derwent Arsenal was the Lightfast pencil, a pencil that has made a huge splash in the world of colored pencil artists. The Derwent Lightfast Colored Pencils comes in a full 100 count set, however, they also provide this gorgeous 48 set Wooden Box.

Sennelier 175 Soft Pastels Wooden Box Set
Another formidable name in the world of art, Sennelier have been making soft Pastels for decades and they come in some of the most amazing colors and of course all have highly lightfast pigments. In this particular 175 count set, no pastel artist would be lost for inspiration or curb by lack of color from a particular genre.

Holbein Colored Pencils
The Holbein Colored Pencils have been quite an illusive beast for the colored pencil artists in the West, with this amazing colored pencil originating from Japan, only a few selected stars stock the pencil. However, quite recently more and more stores in the UK and America are stocking the pencils mainly open stock which was always the main sticking point of concern.
Colored Pencil artists I am sure will be thrilled to hear of this given the amazing reputation of the Holbein Colored Pencils, with their excellent lightfast testing, unparalleled pastel shades and incredible count of 150 colors. This Wooden Box set from Holbein delivers the entire 150 range including those rare but gorgeous pastel tones.

Faber Castell Pitt Monochrome Wooden Box Set
Another excellently crafted Faber Castell wooden box set, this 85 piece Faber Castell Pitt Monochrome Wooden Box Set is perfect for all graphite enthusiasts and artists. The wooden box set actually doubles up as a briefcase using the hinging mechanism as the carrying handle.
Within the box you get the full graphite range of the 9000 Faber Castell Graphite pencil, a fantastic graphite pencil, you also get pastel blocks and pencils ranging from white, sanguine, sepia to allow for lose figure sketching as was done by the masters.
