I know, in fact, I know only too well how much we are all feeling the financial strains of the past few years and for me personally, art has been my saviour, my got place when I am feeling lost and helpless. One of the thing I love to do is really punish myself for being useless and look at the most beautiful wooden box gif sets filled with some of the most gorgeous colored pencils in the world. Although I am being flippant, I do just love checking out the websites of colored pencil companies and salivate over their amazing wooden box sets.
Athough this is a really expensive selection of art supplies, the items in this list are those sets that you have been saving all your art career for. You have worked hard and so deserve a treat, the money that you have earned and saved all year should go on treating yourself to a life long art set that will serve you for the rest of your art carer. Perhaps your family are looking to club together and buy you something specially, this is the perfect list to send them.
1. Caran d’Ache Luminance 100 Set In Light Oak Wooden Box
Caran d’Ache Luminance are the finest colored pencils on the market, if I was forced to, I think I would announce the Caran d’Ache Luminance Colored Pencils as my favourite. The creamy texture of the Luminance core is perfect for layering and blending.
Caran d’Ache have released this new gorgeous wooden box for their 100 set of Luminance, a light Oak Wooden Box that looks absolutely gorgeous. Although this is the 100 set, there is actually 112 pencils in the box, two pencil blenders, one full blender and 9 duplicates
2. Stabilo CarbOthello Pastel Pencils
I feel I have neglected the pastel pencil artists throughout this years Christmas List, so as you can see I have added this beautiful wooden box set with the full 60 count of Stabilo CarbOthello Pastel Pencils. The CarbOthello Pastel Pencils are among some of the most popular pastels used by artists and here they are displayed in this eloquent wooden box st.
3. Caran d’Ache Prismalo 80 Wooden Box Set
There is no doubt about it, Caran d’Ache produce some of the most gorgeous wooden box sets on the market, with the exception of the new Caran d’Ache Luminance 100 set light oak box, the majority of their box sets are a rich dark wood box sets. Here as you can see, Caran d’Ache have produce this beautiful box set for their water soluble Prismalo range. The Prismalo water soluble pencils are among my own personal favourite pencils, I love how the pencil looks over all and the performance is amazing. In this set as you can see, there are two trays displaying 40 pencils each and each tray lifts out independently of one and other.
4. Sennelier Watercolour Wood and Porcelain Set
For this luxury set, the watercolour artists will be drooling at the thought to owning this thing of beauty. Not wanting to upset our amazing watercolor artists, I have included this beautiful set from Sennelier, Sennelier of course being one of the premier watercolour providers in the world. As you can see, this set includes 24 Sennelier watercolour pans with a slot which includes two round watercolour brushes. For mixing your watercolours, there is a porcelain mixer, divided into six individual mixing wells. Create your next watercolour master piece as the masters would have done back in the day.
5. Holbein 150 Wooden Box Set
If you have followed me for any length of time, you will know that I am a huge fan of the Holbein Colored Pencils and now their brand new Watercolour Pencils. The full range of the Holbein Colored Pencils is 150, 150 gorgeous colors, a palette put together like no other. In this gorgeous Holbein Wooden Box Set to top lid lifts up and a try with 50 pencils is visible, below the top layer lays two drawers with 50 pencils in each drawer. Each drawer, along with the top tray, can all be fully removed and placed at the side of your project for easy access to your pencils. This is a truly beautiful wooden box set from Holbein.
6. Marco 300 Tribute Collection Colored Pencils
Although this set of Marco Tribute colored pencils is not a wooden box set, all 300 pencils come in the most beautiful color coded sets, with the most stunning Chinese artwork. I have reviewed the Marco Tribute Colored Pencils only when I reviewed them there was only a set of 80, I absolutely loved the pencils and they performed to an outstanding level throughout the project that I completed in order to demonstrate. As you can see, the Marco 300 Tribute Collection is presented beautifully and worthy of a place in this list.
7. Lyra Polycolor Wooden Box Set.
The Lyra Polycolor Colored Pencils are another pencil that in my opinion is severely overlooked when it comes to the colored pencil world. Very few artists use them in their projects which I understand regarding the lightfast ratings, but still find it such a shame given the overall quality of the Lyra Polycolor. This Wooden Box set from Lyra not only offers the full range of Polycolor Colored Pencils, 68 Assorted Colors, 10 Grey Polycolor Pencils, 5 Carbon Pencils, 3 Charcoal Pencils, 1 Carbon extra dark, 3 Water Soluble Graphite pencils, 1 craft knife, 1 sanding block, 2 blending stumps, 1 kneaded eraser, 1 sharpener and 8 assorted oil pastel pencils. All in all this is a beautiful set to own with a wonderful selection of pencils.
8. Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils
No list would be complete without a set of Faber Castell Polychromos, the Faber Castell Polychromos is one of the most popular colored pencils, used by colored pencil arts the world over. No mater what Faber Castell turn their hand to, one thing that will always be guaranteed is the extremely high quality craftsmanship put into the product. Faber Castell also have a unique way of manufacturing their wooden box sets and this Faber Castell 120 Polychromos Wooden Box Set is no different. Two dials on the front of the box, lock and open the box to display two trays of Polychromos Colored Pencils, however, as you open the set, the top layer is extended upward to ensure selection is easy.
9. Derwent 72 Sketching Wooden Box Set
I was tempted to include the Derwent Lightfast 100 Wooden Box Set, but no matter where I looked, nowhere had the 100 Wooden Box Set in stock and the idea of this list is providing ideas for you to purchase at Christmas. So instead I opted for this gorgeous 72 Derwent Sketching set, a compilation of Derwent’s graphite and charcoal selection. Inside the set you will receive 20 Graphite pencils, 3 water soluble Graphite sticks, 13 tinted charcoal pencils, 3 sketching pencils, 3 water soluble sketching pencils, 15 gorgeous graphitint pencils, 10 Derwent Drawing Pencils, 3 charcoal pencils, a blender pencil and burnisher . This is a fantastic set for budding graphite and charcoal artists, graphite and charcoal are wonderful mediums to work with, very forgiving and easy to manipulate.
10 Caran d’Ache Pablo Colored Pencils.
The Caran d’Ache Pablo are quite similar to the Faber Castell Polychromos in terms of core hardness, however, the Caran d’Ache Pablo 120 set provide an amazing palette, especially for botanical work. As you can see from the image, there are three tiers of pencils, each tray is a solid dark wood tray, independently able to be removed from the main wooden box set. This allows the artist to remove each tier and place them around or close to the project, making color selection easy and organised.
