Nintendo Super Mario Artwork Using Faber Castell Black Edition Colored Pencils
The artwork in this post was created whilst demonstrating the 100 set of Faber Castell Black Edition Colored Pencils. I originally purchased the 100 set of Faber Castell Black Edition to help show the additional colors over the 50 set of Black Edition, but the review ended up being a comparison video against the Faber Castell Classic Red.
Whilst the artwork of the Nintendo Super Mario Brothers character was created using the Faber Castell Black Edition Colored Pencils, it was created on the Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Velum paper. For a pencil like the Black Edition, I personally think the core is best suited to a Bristol Smooth paper of Bristol Velum. For those of you new to colored pencils, Bristol Velum paper has a little bit more tooth, texture on the surface over the Bristol Smooth paper. I like to use Velum for fan art type artwork but for something like a colored pencil portraiture using a silky smooth core, a Bristol Smooth paper would be perhaps more beneficial.
