Botanical Art Using Bruynzeel Colored Pencils

The artwork in this post is a result of reviewing the Bruynzeel Colored Pencils. I have a lot of admiration for the Bruynzeel line purely based on past and present reviews, almost every review I have completed has developed favourable results, in line with cost etc.

This particular set on review is a set market towards our younger artists, however, Bruynzeel are in the process of rebranding the tins and artwork on them, from April 2022 this particular set of pencils will have a new look but the pencils will be the same. Obviously at that time of change I will of course update this review, but essentially the pencils will be the same, besides, until this time, many stores the world over are still selling these Bruynzeel Colored Pencils.

The artwork in this piece was done on Derwent Lightfast Paper, ordinarily, it would not make sense to use Kids grade or student grade colored pencils on paper like Derwent Lightfast. Lightfast paper and others like it are created with archivability in mind, therefore using non archival products on such a surface, well some would call it a waste of time and money. However, for this review I wanted to demonstrate inexpensive pencils on quality paper and display just how important the paper or surface is in the artistic process.

To find out more about the Bruynzeel Colored Pencils you can check out my YouTube Video review by following the link, alternatively you could check out my speed drawing video of this artwork come together, sometimes seeing the art come to life can help a potential owner of the product see the full ability of the pencils. I fully understand that some of the ability comes from the artist, however the way I look at my art, when I am reviewing a set of pencils for argument sake, whatever art I am producing, is achievable by anyone who enjoys drawing. I came from soldier to artist, simply to help me deal with terrible nightmares, severe PTSD and clinical depression, nobody stood in a class room and taught me, everything I know I picked up from watching other artists, including my eldest daughter Niamh, reading art books and watching a few online tutorials. But if I can draw I really think, hand on heart, that anyone can draw if it is something they are interested in and enjoy. I really feel that anyone can draw but I can only hope that they art can help to fill your heart the way it has mine.
