Phoenixcolor Colored Pencils Botanical Artwork Images
The artwork in this post has been created using the Phoenixcolor Colored Pencils, which in my opinion are the most beautiful colored pencils in the world. Take the packaging and design of the pencils away, and you are still left with a well balanced, pleasurable colored pencil set to use.
When I seen the palette of the full 100 set, I was over the moon with the greens and ready to create some gorgeous botanical piece, lots of tropical leaves etc, but as I was looking through the reference images, I came across this simple photo of grapes.
I had seen many people draw red grapes before, with that almost dusty look on the skin and no matter how hard I tried in the past to replicate the images, I just couldn’t get it. So I wanted to try the image with the 100 set of Phoenixcolor Colored Pencils and to be honest with you I was pleasantly surprised with the final result. I know they are a bit more winky that orangey, brownish red, but I was still happy with the final outcome.
This drawing was completed on Derwent Lightfast Paper, which is quickly becoming my absolute favourite paper to use for full colored pencil work. I really love the texture of the paper and it feels almost as though I can apply layers all day without any problems. The paper is of course 100% cotton which helps to give the paper that tough feeling, that feeling of durability. The paper can be a bit pricey and I know there will be people outraged at me using non lightfast pencils on lightfast paper, but I love the paper so much when I complete 100% colored pencil piece, it is my goto paper.
